Gerald (Jerry) Cochran, PhD, MSW, is a Professor in the Department of Internal Medicine, Division of Epidemiology, at the University of Utah and Director of Research for the Program on Addiction Research, Clinical Care, Knowledge, and Advocacy. He holds an adjunct Associate Professor appointment in Psychiatry and is core faculty with the VA Salt Lake City Health Care System’s IDEAS Center of Innovation. Dr. Cochran’s expertise centers on identifying and improving appropriate care for underserved populations, particularly individuals who use drugs and alcohol. He has extensive experience in clinical- and system-level behavioral health services research, with a focus on developing and testing evidence-based practices to address opioid and other substance use and to improve prevention and treatment services.
