How to Prepare for Oral and Poster Presentations

Oral Presentation Information

  • Oral sessions are scheduled for 75 minutes; thus, each presenter will be allotted 12- 15 minutes (depending on having 4 or 5 presentations per session), with 15 minutes reserved for questions at the end. Session moderators will be instructed to ensure each speaker adheres to this time limit.
  • We suggest using font sizes of at least 24, and limiting text on slides, in order to improve readability.
  • Presentations should be sent to [email protected] no later than Wednesday, October 4th at 5 PM EST to ensure sufficient time to pre-load them on the computer of the assigned room. If updates are required after the October 4th deadline, please bring the presentation to the room at least 10 minutes before the start of the session.
  • Advertise your presentation! Use the social media toolkit that includes graphics and customizable messages. Include the official hashtag, #AHSR2023, to be part of the online conversation.
  • All presenters are required to register by September 30; those who fail to do so will have their abstracts withdrawn.

Poster Presentation Information

  • The maximum area per poster is 4 feet high by 3 feet wide (48 inches by 36 inches). Please note, the boards are vertical.
  • Please indicate the presenting author in the author block (bold, underline, asterisk, etc.).
  • Remember, illustrations may be read by interested scientists from distances of about 3 feet or more.
  • Do not mount materials on heavy board because it will be difficult to affix the materials to the poster board. Keep presentation as lightweight as possible.
  • You will be able to place your poster up at the following times:
Day 1 Posters (Wednesday, October 18): 8:00 AM is the earliest time to put up your poster or during the 4:30-5:00 PM break.
Day 2 Posters (Thursday, October 19): 7:00 AM is the earliest time to put up the poster or during the 10:30-10:45 AM break.
Day 3 Posters (Friday, October 20): 12:30 PM is the earliest time to put up the poster.
  • Advertise your presentation! Use the social media toolkit that includes graphics and customizable messages. Include the official hashtag, #AHSR2023, to be part of the online conversation.
  • Any posters left on the board at the end of the day will be discarded.
  • All presenters are required to register by September 30; those who fail to do so will have their poster withdrawn.
